Cashmere and Angora Goats
Cashmere Goat
Cashmere fiber comes from the Cashmere goat. The cashmere is a down that grows under the guard hair as a winter insulator. Once a year the cashmere is combed out. One goat produces about a shopping bag full of cashmere fiber once a year. We currently have a limited quantity of raw cashmere fiber.
Angora Goats
Mohair fiber comes from the Angora goat. Like sheep, the goats are shaved to remove their fiber. Unlike sheep they are sheered in the spring and in the fall. The mohair fiber is softer than wool and has a "silky" feel. We currently have a limited quantity of raw mohair fiber.
